Status Report #30: 17th of May, 2026

G'morning, fellow Wombatists! It's Amalia here, hittin' you with another Status Report!

We've been fairly busy, so let's start by talking about...

-Art-

Well, we finally got our next project done in this regard! For some practice, we did our best to do a digital paintalong with Bob Ross! (Not real-time of course. Bob was incredibly fast!) You can see the finished work up above, and this time, we also recorded a speedpaint, look:

We feel like we could have added a bit more overall contrast or colour depth, but eh, it was fun to make!😉

For our next work, i'll be looking into making a first self-portrait. Our first time drawing a human (or well, human form). Let's see how iffy i can make myself look, eh?😜

-Photography-

Well, you might have seen this recently on our Cara or Pinterest:

We've come to a bit of a routine now, where we do something each Sunday. Status Report Sunday every other week, and every -other- other week, it's "Side Project Sunday", where we take the time to share a couple of the many photographs we take, as well as scheduling some gaming videos on YouTube, if we have any to share. This way, we can focus on our main projects, but still carve out a bit of time on a regular basis to share some other stuff. Should be good!

-Music-

Well, out self-titled tune is on track for a release on the 29th of May, and it's sort of good-bad news from the Submithub curators.

The good news is that everyone has nice things to say, which is a good sign. In our experience, if there's something wrong with a tune, they'll be polite about it, but they'll point it out. So the fact that the feedback's been positive is fairly encouraging.

However.

The bad news is that despite people liking the tune, it did as bad as our tunes usually do on SH. Mainly, the reasoning is "It's quite good in it's own right, but it just doesn't fit any of our playlists." Which is true enough, to be fair. We make some relatively experimental, weird music, and most music playlists need to be consistent, meaning all the songs need to "fall in line", as it were. Our's simply don't do that.

But eh, we've realized a while back that we're not likely to do well on SH. Figured we'd try again this time, because the tune's quite good, but well, yet another learning experience, eh?

At least it was fun to make, if quite heavily delayed.😉

As for our next tune, we've been thinking of making something quite drum-heavy. Maybe even a pure Taiko-drumming thing.

....... MIDI, of course. Say what you will, but we have this virtual instrument by InSession audio, and it's possibly the most fun-to-play-with audio-tool we own.

We've actually used it quite heavily in a tune before:

But yeah, might be some time before we get going on that.

Partially because of our next topic:

-Blogging-

Well, if you haven't read it yet, we've recently posted about Euro Truck Simulator 2. The game just kinda happened to us (not for the first time) and we figured we might as well turn it into something productive and write about it.

However! It actually got in the way of another project. One that we've since got knee-deep into writing.

There's a huuuuge post coming, about a relatively recent game. Or actually, a trilogy of games. It'll also be a multi-part post, because the whole thing is too big to write about it all in one go.

(Well, it's also because the game is so vast, we wanna play it in stages and take brakes in-between, or we'll almost inevitably burn ourselves out on it.😛)

But yeah, in the first post, we sort of talk about the foundation of the game, the gameplay and so on. But we ain't telling you which game it is, yet. 'tis a surprise!😉

After the first big post about this one is out, we'll alternate, writing about other games (or stuff in general), then going back, playing a few more levels of this big game and writing about those.

For the first post in-between, we've already got another one of Michael's childhood gems lined up, and he's in fact ravenously itching to replay this one. Normally he stays quite neutral and objective in spite of his nostalgia, but this time, he -adores- the game. So i'm quite looking forward to re-experiencing it with him. Should be a real joy!

So yeah, big things are on the way for this blog! Stay tuned! Do not adjust your set! Do not change the channel! Is this terminology correct? We don't know, we've not owned a TV in years!

-Life-

Well, as for our personal ramblings, it's sort of a mixed bag. The inheritance stuff is moving forward and it's looking like we might actually get that stuff all wrapped up by the end of the year, which is nice.

Unfortunately, we've recently had some trouble with a neighbour, who just cannot seem to let the rest of the building live in peace. Even had to call the cops, once.

Not gonna use this as a platform to complain about private matters, but yeah, it does reduce our productivity a tad when some muppet randomly decides that their neighbours don't get more than 2 hours of sleep (if any) on a given night, meaning that we'll also be groggy the next day. Just lovely, that.😕

We could put some choice words about it here, but we do try to keep this blog fairly clean.😉

Anyway, no DCS category this time around, simply because well, we've done a few more of the F/A-18 training missions, but ultimately we haven't had much time for DCS, these past couple of weeks.

So, we hope you also had a decent couple of weeks, and look forward to our next post!

Until then, stay safe and have a good one!🙂
