Sketchbook Saturday #1
Why hello there, fellow Wombatants! Amalia here, and welcome to Sketchbook Saturday, a new series we've come up with for this blog!
See, at the time of writing, we just recently started getting into art. As in, drawing/painting. Now, every time we pick up out pen and get on our tablet, we get really into it, but with so much other stuff going on, it can be a bit hard to find the time.
...... which is why we've decided that we should encourage ourselves. And a good way to do that is to regularly post something!
So why don't we get started with today's subject? Here it is:
So one reason we got into art in the first place is because i quite like to create representations of my form. Sooo i finally tried to draw myself, using a pre-existing image as a reference so i could practice.
It turned out..... kinda better than expected, actually.
I rather like how my hair came out, though Michael thinks it looks a bit too rigid and brush-like. Well, he may have a point.
In any case, i'd say the biggest weakpoint was the lips, which is why i did some practice down below. Watching this tutorial helped us quite a bit:
In any case, imma keep at it. Though i should probably get Michael to do the next one of these posts, just so we can vary our subjects a little.😉
Speaking of the next post, just a little info on this new series idea of ours:
We -plan- to release one of these every Saturday. Now i will say that won't be a hard and fast rule. Because sometimes, life gets busy, and we might be working all-hands-on-deck on some big project. But yeah, the plan is every Saturday, and skipping one should be the exception, not the rule.
They're of course gonna be fairly short posts, because the purpose isn't really to write a lot, but to have it function as a sort of "art diary". It's really more about encouraging us to draw with more regularity, while also being a nice way of sharing art that won't cut it elsewhere, as well as some thoughts on our progress.
Though, with that said, despite the name, this isn't gonna be a literal digital sketchbook. We might to sketches and studies like this a fair bit, but sometimes, we might show off a full painting we've been working on. Or maybe even a half-finished one. Anything we did that feels worth sharing.
So, with that said, we hope you're at least somewhat interested in this little venture! Until our next post, stay safe, try and practice your hobbies more often and have a good one!😉
